Michael Hinton is a multifaceted artist whose journey began at the age of 8 when he started ballet training under Julia Wilkinson Manley. At 15, he moved to New York City to further hone his craft at the School of American Ballet. By 18, he stepped into the professional world as a dancer with the Ohio Contemporary Ballet, where he performed for five years and choreographed numerous ballets, some of which toured the world and gained international recognition.
Upon returning to Denver, he not only explored freelance opportunities but also worked closely with Julia Wilkinson Manley, managing her dance conservatory. In 2020, he joined Wonderbound, where he danced for three years before retiring from professional ballet in 2023 to pursue new creative avenues as a ceramist and drag artist.
His journey in ceramics began at Glazed Ceramics Studio, where he took on the position of Studio Manager. Simultaneously, he has made a name for himself in the Denver drag scene, performing and directing numerous shows under the pseudonym Kanary Yellow.
Now, Michael is dedicated to sharing his expertise in both ceramics and dance. He focuses on teaching, planning events, and continuing to perform in drag, inspiring others to explore their creativity while embracing the art of movement.
